Holmes Packaging is experienced in the manufacture of both multiwall and flexible barrier packaging. This experience, combined with a comprehensive Research and Development program in partnership with Avalon Engineering Ltd, has resulted in the development of an award-winning, innovative new packaging system, Stratapac™.

Stratapac™ is an all-plastic, integrally lined block bottom shipping sack designed for powdered or granulated products requiring high levels of protection and hygienic handling.

Stratapac™ features a single ply co-extruded outer using the latest metallocene co-extruded film technology to provide a tough, moisture resistant outer bag capable of carrying high quality graphics.

Improved Hygiene and Product Protection

The hygienic inner liner may utilise barrier or non-barrier films, dependant upon the needs of your products. The level of protection can be tailored, protecting your products from damage by oxygen, odours or moisture.

Easy and Quick to Open

End users will be amazed at the ease and speed of opening Stratapac™. An effortless, single action opens the outer bag perforations, enabling the inner sealed pack to be quickly and hygienically removed. Use of a plastic outer sack eliminates paper fibres and minimises any risk of contaminating the sealed inner bag.

The easy-to-use perforated opening feature at the top of the bag eliminates the need for tools, providing safe handling practices.

Pallet Stability

The Stratapac™ outer bag is embossed to provide an effective nonslip surface for optimum pallet stability.

Source Reduction

The all-plastic Stratapac™ package provides ease in materials handling for recycling and reduces waste volumes up to 30% when compared with traditional multiply paper/plastic packages.

Automated/Dual-Capable Sealing Equipment

Equipment for sealing a filled Stratapac™ sack was developed by Avalon Engineering, a division of Niro. Using a novel, patented technology, the Stratapac™ sealer seals the internal pouch and the outer pack, while at the same time creating an easy opening mechanism, all in a single operation. The Stratapac™ sealer can be used with existing filling equipment, though some modifications may be required.

Stratapac™ sealers have the unique feature of being capable of sealing and closing conventional paper multiwall sacks as well as all-plastic Stratapac™ sacks. This enables processors to select the packaging medium best suited to their markets.
